Webflow Builds For Teams That Want To Edit Their Own Site

Builds, CMS setup, and migrations for marketing teams who are tired of filing a ticket to change a headline. We will also tell you when Webflow is the wrong answer.
Komplex builds Webflow sites from Austin, Texas, with a presence in New York City and Reykjavik. Most clients are B2B and software companies whose marketing teams need to publish without a developer. The work covers new builds, CMS structure, migrations from WordPress, Figma handoff, and training your team to run it. We are a Google Partner. It sits inside our web design and development service.

Webflow Is A Trade, Not An Upgrade

Marketing teams pick Webflow for one reason, and it is a good one: they can build and publish pages without waiting for anybody. That is worth paying for, and for a team shipping a landing page a week it changes what marketing can do. What gets skipped in the sales conversation is the other side of the trade. The CMS has structural limits you will meet eventually. The ecommerce is thin. The hosting is not optional and not portable. And leaving is harder than arriving, which is a strange thing to think about at the start and an important one.

Who Should Not Use Webflow

Anyone with a large content archive and complex relationships between content types will hit the CMS limits and be annoyed. Anyone selling more than a handful of products should be on Shopify. Anyone who needs to own the whole stack, or who has a developer already fluent in something else, is usually better on WordPress. We build Webflow sites and we still talk roughly a third of enquiries out of it. A platform that fits badly is expensive in a way that does not show up until year two.
Ask If Webflow Fits

What We Do In Webflow

Five lines of work. The last one matters more than the rest and is usually the first thing cut from a quote.

New Builds

Marketing sites built from a structure agreed first, with the components and styles set up so your team can assemble new pages rather than requesting them.

CMS Structure

Collections, fields, and references designed around what you actually publish. Getting this wrong is the main reason Webflow sites become frustrating in year two.

WordPress To Webflow Migration

Content, URLs, and redirects mapped before anything moves, with the pages that carry search traffic identified first.

Figma To Webflow

Turning a design file into a built site without the layout drifting. Handled by contract developers we have used for years.

Handover And Training

Your team taught to use what we built, with the walkthrough recorded so it survives whoever leaves. A Webflow site nobody on your side can edit has wasted its only advantage.

Start With The Site And Who Edits It

Send the current site and tell us who needs to publish. Those two answers usually settle whether Webflow is right for you.
THE DECISION

Webflow Or WordPress, With The Trade Offs Left In

The comparison you will find elsewhere is usually written by someone who sells one of them. We build both, so the uncomfortable rows are included.
WebflowWordPress
Who publishes a new pageYour marketing team, without a developer, which is the entire reason to choose itYour team, once templates are set up properly, though it is easier to get this wrong
Content at scaleFine to a point, then the CMS limits on collections and references start to biteHandles very large archives and complex content relationships without complaint
Selling thingsWorkable for a small catalog and not where you want to be with a real storeWooCommerce for full control, or use Shopify and keep the two separate
HostingIncluded, required, and not portable. You are renting the whole arrangementYours, anywhere, and you can move it whenever you like
Ongoing costMonthly, per site, and above what typical WordPress hosting costsHosting plus a few licences, plus the care to keep it updated
Maintenance burdenLow. Webflow looks after the platform and security itselfReal. Core, themes, and plugins stay yours to keep current, or ours on a plan
LeavingHard. You can export code, and you lose the CMS and the editing that made it worth choosingSimple enough. Content and database move, and plenty of people can take it on

Which Column Are You Actually In?

Content volume and who publishes decide it more than anything else. Tell us both and we will give you a straight answer.
Ask Which Platform

What Does A Webflow Agency Do?

A Webflow agency designs and builds websites on Webflow, a visual development platform that produces production code without a developer writing it by hand. The work covers site structure and design, building components and style systems, and setting up the CMS collections that hold your content. It also covers integrations, migration from another platform, and training the client team to publish on their own. Webflow includes its own hosting, so there is no separate server to manage.

It suits B2B and software companies whose marketing teams publish often and do not want to depend on a developer for routine changes. It suits content heavy sites and real ecommerce much less well. Komplex builds Webflow sites from Austin, Texas, and also builds on WordPress. That is why this page can tell you which one fits rather than arguing for the one we happen to sell.

Common Questions About Webflow

Webflow or WordPress for our site?

Webflow when a marketing team must publish without a developer and your content stays moderate in volume. WordPress if you hold a large archive, prefer owning everything outright, or already have someone maintaining it. The table above lays out the trade offs in full. Two questions decide it: how much content you hold, and who has to publish.

Can our marketing team edit the site without a developer?

Yes, and that is the main reason to choose Webflow. It only holds true if the components and CMS collections are built for that from the start. A Webflow site assembled as a series of one off pages is as hard to edit as anything else. Structure work matters more here than on other platforms.

What happens if we want to leave Webflow?

It is harder than leaving WordPress and worth knowing now. You can export the static code, and you lose the CMS and the visual editing, which are the reasons you chose it. In practice leaving means rebuilding on the new platform and migrating content. Treat Webflow as a decision with a long tail rather than one you can reverse cheaply.

Can you migrate our WordPress site to Webflow?

Yes. Content, structure, and URLs all map across. Whether it goes well comes down to the redirect plan. We identify the pages carrying search traffic first, map every address, and set redirects before the switch. The website redesign page covers how we protect traffic through a move like this.

Can Webflow handle ecommerce?

For a small catalog with simple needs, yes. For a real store, no, and we would rather tell you that than build you into a corner. If you are selling seriously, Shopify handles checkout, payments, and inventory properly. Some clients run a Webflow marketing site alongside a Shopify store, which works well.

What does Webflow cost to run?

A monthly plan per site, which is higher than typical WordPress hosting and comes with the platform, the hosting, and the security handled for you. Whether that is expensive depends on the comparison. It is more than hosting alone and less than hosting plus the maintenance a WordPress site needs. We will lay out both sides in the fit check.

Tell Us What The Site Does And Who Has To Publish

Those two answers settle most of it. We come back with whether Webflow fits, what it would cost monthly, and what you would be giving up. Sometimes the answer is no.
